Darrell Emerson graduated from Toledo High School in 1962. In April 1963 he began working for Asplundh Tree Company and continued in the tree care business until his retirement in 2010.
In 1986 Darrell began running the game clock at Iowa Falls High School basketball and volleyball games in addition to acting as a volleyball line judge and referee.
Around the same time, Darrell volunteered with other softball dads to help establish and maintain the new Iowa Falls High School softball field. Beginning in the early 90’s Darrell worked on the sideline “chain gang” for Iowa Falls High School football and raised the flags at games as part of the American Legion Color Guard. While he has slowed down some in recent years Darrell continues to run the clock for IFAHS basketball.
Darrell has been involved with the American Legion for 52 years during which time he has served as Commander, Honor Guard Commander, Legion Trustee, Legion Memorial Trustee, and Co-Coordinator of fundraising among other volunteer activities. He was also assistant Scout Master of Boy Scout Troop 316 in Iowa Falls for 15 years.
Darrell has been married to his wife June for 51 years and they have five children, ten grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.
